The quarter finale of the amateur artist contest ’Het Vierkante Ei’ (The Square Egg) was sweet ! As I’ve told in my previous post, me and my work ‘Scannography’ were selected to join this big contest. I’m not selected for the semifinal, but I’m very glad the jury was enthusiastic about my photo (I call it photo, even though it’s scanned). They said that the concept of ’Scannography’ worked out very well, that the scan is a refreshing way to express the way I felt and that it looked beautiful and interesting. It was great to hear such positive things of a serious jury, so I had a lovely day (:
I have updated my Blogspot-blog too ! It will be a little bit different that this blog, as you can read in my last post http://dgtalw0nd3rland.blogspot.com/. If you have a blog too, feel free to follow me :D

Dear reader,
I’ve been busy with some things, the last few weeks. I’ve updated and cleaned my social network-accounts, so they will show even more of my work then they already did and less nonsense. I’m busy to update and clean my Deviantart too and I’ll update my portfolio (and even a bit of the layout of my site) the upcoming week.
A couple of works that will be in my galleries soon:

Second, I’m busy to finish the assignment we’ve been working on at school. Normally I study graphic design, but now we had to choose another tendency for ten weeks. I’ve choosen photography. I lóve to photography, like some of you may know. We had to make an photographic diary, with a lot of conceptual background. It was so much fun to do, and it really wend well. My final dummy is ready, we have to show it Monday and after that we have a week to print and make the real book. Because this assignment wend so good, I decided to make my book (binding and cover) all by myself. It was the first time I’ve done something like that, but I’m happy with the result. I’ve solutions for the things that could have been better or even wend a bit wrong, so I’ve faith that my final book will look good.
This is what my dummy looks like:

The cover is made of tea and coffee. The coffee is fixed with transparent glue, so it won’t fall off. I had these colours in my head, and wanted something raw. Someone others’ diary is attractive, sometimes fascinating, but it still shouldn’t look too attractive and pretty, otherwise it will invite people too much to take a look in it. I’ve begun to paint roughly with a lot of thick layers, but that didn’t work out the way I wanted it to be. Then I had the silly idea to use tea and coffee, because of the colours, and that was perfect. My diary looks raw, and still a bit fragile, but feels rough like sandpaper too. I don’t think I will use a title, because I don’t think diaries should have titles and I’m not using text in my photographic diary. Only a photo of a facebook-conversation, more text I didn’t need and didn’t wanted to use (:
And last but not least, me and my work ‘Scannography’ are selected to join to the first round of the amateur artist contest ’Het Vierkante Ei’ (The Square Egg) ! It will be happening tomorrow and we will hear immediately who is selected for the second round (quarter finale). It’s a pretty big contest, so I think it real to expect nothing. But still it’s very nice that I can show ‘Scannography’ to a lot of people (:

Well, that’s it for now.
With love,
Eline
